Hey Kavortians, excuse the long delay, but I was actually releasing a lot of new music over the last few days, which I’ll fill you in on here and in a couple of subsequent posts. First though, the biggest release for me was “Taps (Timmy’s Version” off the forthcoming “Shred White & Blue: Amped American Anthems” album. The album is full of traditional American patriotic and military songs that I made heavy versions of, and three of them are actually based on military bugle calls, which I wrote about here. As you probably know, “Taps” is the bugle call they play at military funerals, and I wanted to make my own heavier, multi-instrumental version of it. As for the Timmy’s version part, that’s a dedication to my cousin Tim Malson, a former special forces Night Stalker in the US Army, who passed away in 2022.
I wanted it to be longer and heavier than the bugle call, but not obnoxiously so. The best way I can describe the final version is a mix of Chris Stapleton-style blues with some heavy guitar accents. I really like the finished product, and so does Timmy’s widow, which is a nice vote of confidence. Hope you like it.
